90. Interrogation
90. Interrogation
Li Jingcheng composed himself outside the door, but when he pushed it open, he was completely stunned.
Only the dimmest light in the living room was on, casting a warm yellow glow on the floor. Several dishes, all his favorites, were laid out on the dining table, still steaming.
But it wasn't the food that caught his attention.
It's Bae Joo-hyun.
She stood beside the dining table, dressed in a black bunny girl outfit. It was lace-trimmed, low-cut, and cinched at the waist, outlining a smooth, flowing silhouette. Two fluffy bunny ears perked up her head, trembling slightly with her breath. A black ribbon was tied behind her neck, making her skin below her collarbone appear almost dazzlingly white.
She wore light makeup today. Her features, already exquisite, were even more defined under the dim light—her brow bones were slightly raised, her nose was high and straight, and her lips were full. Her cheeks had a thin layer of pink, whether from blush or shyness, it was hard to tell.
Her skin was so white that it seemed to glow against the black lace.
Her long hair fell over her shoulders, the ends slightly curled, swaying gently as she turned her head.
Li Jingcheng stood rooted to the spot. Even though he had seen it many times before, he was still stunned.
He admitted that he was a pervert.
"...What's wrong with you today?"
Bae Joo-hyun blushed, but tried to remain calm. "Go wash your hands, the food is getting cold."
Li Jingcheng's gaze shifted from her face, then fell for a second on the steaming food on the table before returning to her, his eyes remaining fixed on her.
"Are you dressed like this so I can eat you or you?"
Bae Joo-hyun's ears turned bright red. Her rounded earlobes were now so red they looked like they were about to bleed. Her voice was also very soft, "Stop talking nonsense and go wash your hands, or I'll change my clothes."
"No!!" Li Jingcheng decisively ran to the kitchen and turned on the tap to wash his hands.
Seeing Lee Kyung-sung's increased eagerness, Bae Joo-hyun's blushing face broke into a smug smile. She had just thought she'd dressed a little too early, but now she felt she'd been prescient.
She stood by the dining table, glancing down at herself—the black lace clung to her skin, revealing the curves of her waist. She reached up and tugged at the hem of her skirt, then decided it wasn't necessary. He'd already seen it all, even…
Li Jingcheng wiped his hands clean and immediately returned to his seat. Seeing that the bowls and chopsticks were set out, the rice was served, and the dishes were picked up, a smile involuntarily appeared on his lips.
Bae Joo-hyun suddenly stood up and sat down next to him.
Not across from us. It's next to us.
Very close.
He could smell her perfume. It was a very light floral and fruity scent, mixed with her natural fragrance, which he inhaled greedily.
Li Jingcheng stared intently at her. "What's wrong?"
Bae Joo-hyun didn't say anything, but picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and held it to his mouth.
Open your mouth.
Li Jingcheng paused for a moment, then smiled and opened his mouth to eat.
"Is it tasty?"
"Everything you feed me tastes good."
Bae Joo-hyun's lips curled up slightly, but she quickly suppressed it. Her lips were thin, and when she pursed them, they would slightly tilt to the left—Lee Kyung-sung had noticed this little gesture a long time ago, but he still found it adorable every time he saw it.
She picked up another piece of food with her chopsticks, but this time she didn't feed it to him; instead, she put it in her own mouth.
Then she turned her head and looked into his eyes.
Very close.
He was so close he could see the curve of her eyelashes. Her eyelashes were long, slightly upturned, casting a small fan-shaped shadow on her eyelids, and the corners of her eyes were slightly upturned, giving her an indescribable charm.
"At the fan meeting today," she said slowly, her voice very soft, "I saw a girl."
The greed in Li Jingcheng's eyes paused slightly.
"A YG trainee," Bae Joo-hyun stared into his eyes, "whose name is Kim Ji-soo."
"Yes," Li Jingcheng felt his heartbeat slow down, "She's here."
"You saw it?"
"I saw it."
"Did you speak?"
"No. She was in the crowd, and I was on stage. We didn't say anything."
Bae Joo-hyun stared at him for two seconds, then suddenly smiled, which meant she had seen me too.
She reached out and touched his face. Her fingers were slender and long, with distinct knuckles, and she didn't have manicured nails.
"You know what," she said, her fingers sliding from his cheek to his chin, "I kept you at home today, not letting you go out, because I was afraid you'd go see other people."
Li Jingcheng maintained his composure, even though his heart was beginning to sink. He smiled and said, "All I know is that you missed me."
Bae Joo-hyun raised an eyebrow. "Stop being silly. Do you want to go out?"
"You said I can't go out, so I won't go out."
Bae Joo-hyun paused for a moment, then gently pinched his cheek.
"With such a sweet tongue, have you done something wrong?"
Li Jingcheng grabbed her hand and kissed it. The back of her hand was smooth, her skin as delicate as silk.
"I have nothing to hide, I just want to be with you."
Bae Joo-hyun blushed, but she quickly regained her composure and hardened her heart.
She withdrew her hand, stood up, walked behind him, and placed her hands on his shoulders.
Then she lowered her head, her lips brushing against his ear. Her lips were soft, her breath warm, and her voice very, very soft—
"Did Kim Jisoo... ask you out?"
Li Jingcheng's body stiffened for a moment.
It only lasted a moment.
But Bae Joo-hyun felt it. Her fingers tightened slightly on his shoulder.
Li Jingcheng's brain was working at lightning speed.
To be honest? To say, "She asked me out, but I turned her down"?
Saying this would make Bae Joo-hyun very happy. She might even reward him—the outfit she's wearing right now is the prelude to that reward.
But what about Kim Jisoo?
That girl didn't seem like an extrovert. She was always the one taking the initiative. She'd initiate messages, ask him out, and get closer to him. For an introverted girl, how much courage did that take?
He rejected her invitation to spend time with Bae Joo-hyun. That was already hurtful.
If I tell Bae Joo-hyun that "she asked me out," it would be like betraying her.
What will Kim Jisoo think?
"Turns out I mean nothing to Oppa."
"So Oppa can tell other people all he wants."
They won't even call me "Oppa" anymore!! They'll only use honorifics when I'm on TV shows or in front of the camera…
He's a womanizer, he admits it.
Therefore, Li Jingcheng didn't want to hurt any of them outside of romantic relationships. He took it as a way to comfort himself.
and so--
Lee Kyung-sung reached out and grasped Bae Joo-hyun's hand that was resting on his shoulder.
"No," Li Jingcheng said calmly with a smile, "She didn't ask me out. But there are photos from the scene; she was at the fan club."
Bae Joo-hyun didn't say anything.
Li Jingcheng could only turn his head and look into her eyes.
"Then what is she doing here?"
"They're probably here to see me," Li Jingcheng leaned over and kissed him. "They're fans, after all."
The trick that used to work every time suddenly stopped working.
Bae Joo-hyun stared at him with a smile for three seconds.
When she smiles, her eyes curve into two crescent moons, but at this moment, beneath that smile lies a trace of emotion he cannot decipher.
Then she let go of his shoulder and sat back down next to him.
"Fans," Bae Joo-hyun repeated softly, her tone carrying a hint of something indescribable, "So you're pretty good to your fans."
Li Jingcheng hadn't expected the chaotic situation to unfold so quickly. He admitted that he had only focused on flirting, subconsciously ignoring the potential consequences and thinking that he could simply deal with whatever came his way.
But once he arrived, he realized it wasn't that simple. After all, he didn't intend to part ways amicably; in fact, one could say he was extremely selfish.
Bae Joo-hyun didn't press him further, but instead picked up a piece of food and put it in his bowl.
"Eat yours."
But her inner thoughts never stopped.
Is what he said true?
Did Kim Jisoo not ask him out?
She just came to the fan club, glanced at him from afar, and left?
...Maybe.
Although the girl was wrapped up tightly and looked young, she did indeed resemble a fan.
but--
Aren't there plenty of celebrities in the entertainment industry who manipulate their fans?
Besides, Kim Jisoo isn't just a fan; she's a YG trainee, so she's practically an insider.
If not today, what about tomorrow? Or the day after?
Bae Joo-hyun bit her lip.
However... there's no need to worry too much for now.
What kind of waves can a trainee who hasn't even debuted make?
What worries her more is never Kim Jisoo.
It's Lim Yoon-a.
The visual center of Girls' Generation. Having debuted for many years, her national recognition, looks, and popularity are all top-tier.
If that woman is interested in Li Jingcheng...
No, it must be meaningful, otherwise why would they support the support truck?
Why don't so many of her senior colleagues in the company who are familiar with her receive the same treatment?
Bae Joo-hyun dared not think any further.
Seeing that she was silent, Li Jingcheng felt sorry for her and reached out to hug her.
She had narrow shoulders and a small frame; her hair brushed against his chin and smelled of shampoo.
"What are you thinking about?"
"It's nothing."
Your face says it all.
Bae Joo-hyun leaned on his shoulder, not pulling away. Her profile was pressed against his chest, and from above, one could see her long eyelashes and high nose bridge.
"I was thinking," she said slowly, ", "are you this nice to everyone?"
"Kim Jisoo. You recommended her for the role in 'GG' because she's a fan?"
Li Jingcheng remained silent for two seconds before ultimately deciding not to lie.
"She's a good match for that guy," Lee Kyung-sung hugged her tightly, "and I want to help you guys, at least reduce some of the pressure on you when you debut."
Bae Joo-hyun looked up at him. "Us? Are you still with Kim Ji-soo?"
How can you say there's nothing wrong with that?
But Bae Joo-hyun didn't expose her.
"What about Im Yoon-a?"
Lee Kyung-sung was taken aback. "What's wrong with Lim Yoon-a?"
"Does she also meet the brand's requirements?"
Li Jingcheng could now raise his voice a bit, "My first choice for the female lead is you, not her."
It's not our turn yet, but the future is uncertain.
He secretly added a sentence in his mind.
Bae Joo-hyun didn't answer, but leaned back on his shoulder. The smile lingered on her face, longer than any words could express.
Her smile was faint, the corners of her mouth just slightly upturned, but her eyes were full of light. That light wasn't reflected from the lamplight; it shone from within.
He knew what she was thinking.
But he didn't know how to answer.
So he chose to use another method—
He reached out, pinched her chin, and lifted her face.
Her chin was small and delicate with soft lines. When he pinched it, the flesh on her face would puff up slightly, like an angry cat.
Bae Joo-hyun paused for a moment, "What?"
Li Jingcheng didn't say anything, but lowered his head and kissed her forehead.
Her forehead was smooth and full, and her skin was warm.
Then comes the tip of the nose.
When I kissed her, I could feel her soft breathing.
Then there's the corner of the mouth.
Her lips trembled slightly.
Bae Joo-hyun's breathing became erratic.
"Li Jingcheng..."
"Um?"
"You haven't finished eating yet!"
Li Jingcheng kissed her directly.
Isn't this what they're eating?
Her lips were soft, carrying a faint scent of lip gloss. Her breathing quickened, and her fingers gripped the hem of his shirt tighter and tighter.
When she could no longer hold on, Lee Kyung-sung released her mouth. Bae Joo-hyun quickly gasped for breath, her chest heaving, her cheeks burning red.
"You're wearing this today," Li Jingcheng's voice was a little hoarse, the fire in his eyes seeming to devour her, "when did you buy it?"
Bae Joo-hyun blushed, turned her head away, and replied softly.
"I bought it the day after you said you wanted to play Li Xuan."
Her profile was sharply defined under the light, with a smooth jawline and a long neck. The skin below her collarbone was dazzlingly white against the black lace.
"Oh right, I remember Li Xuan and Xu Yanyu's costumes have arrived. Let me ask Yonghao." Li Jingcheng also remembered and picked up his phone.
"Never mind, let's ask when we meet tomorrow." Bae Joo-hyun held his hand, her face flushed and a little shy.
Li Jingcheng laughed, pulled her into his arms, took back his phone, and kissed her on the cheek.
"Okay. You look good in anything."
Bae Joo-hyun gave a muffled "hmm" and buried her face in his chest.
Her ears were bright red, and her thin earlobes revealed fine downy hairs. Her breathing gradually calmed down, and her fingers, no longer clutching the hem of his shirt, gently rested on his waist.
She didn't ask about Kim Jisoo anymore.
I didn't ask about Yoona again.
I won't ask today, at least not today.
